It hasn’t rained in the last 4 years. The ponds have dried up and large lakes are getting there pretty soon. The city has jacked up the water charges. The lawns look like desiccated mats. Slowly, people are redoing the landscaping moving to drought resistant yards.
The jungle floor is more golden than ever. With the streams and water holes drying up, the animals are also finding it difficult to get by. These days we have reported spotting of mountain lions in the neighborhood, either during early mornings or in the dark. The forrest officials have increased the patrol. People are scared. But to think of these drought stricken animals and their plight is scarier.
